Have you heard the advice "do it scared"? There are some situations where fear is telling us we are in danger. It's a great defense that can keep us safe. But when does fear keep you from doing things that are good for you? Being afraid to take a risk or make a decision can be paralyzing. What you really want may be on the other side of fear.
So, let me take you through each Enneagram Type's core fears and lead you toward courage so you can overcome what is keeping you stuck.
Core fear- being wrong, bad, evil, inappropriate, unredeemable, corruptible.
Courageous steps- Speak up for what you believe in, even if it means going against the norm or facing criticism.
Core fear- Being rejected, unloved, or unwanted
Courageous Steps- take care of yourself and your own needs, even if it means putting your own well-being before the needs of others.
Core fear- Being exposed as or thought incompetent, inefficient, or worthless; failing to be or appear successful
Courageous Take a risk or make a change in your life, even if it means going outside of your comfort zone or facing uncertainty.
Core fear- Being inadequate, emotionally cut off, plain, mundane, defective, flawed, or insignificant.
Courageous Steps- Express your true feelings and be authentic, even if it means being vulnerable or standing out from others.
Core fear-Being annihilated, invalid, or not existing; being thought incapable, or ignorant; having obligations placed upon you or your energy depleted
Courageous Steps- Take action and make a decision, even if it means going against your analytical nature or facing the unknown.
Core fear-Feeling fear itself, being without support, or guidance.; being blamed, targeted, alone, or physically abandoned
Courageous Steps- trust yourself and your own judgment, even if it means going against the advice or expectations of others.
Core fear- Being deprived, trapped in emotional pain, limited, or bored; missing out on something fun.
Courageous Steps- Face your fears and deal with difficult emotions, even if it means slowing down or facing reality.
Core fear- Being weak, powerless, harmed controlled, vulnerable, manipulated, and left at the mercy of injustice
Courageous Steps- Admit your own vulnerabilities and express your emotions, even if it means appearing weak or out of control.
Core fear- Being in conflict, tension, or discord; feeling shut out or overlooked; losing connection with others
Courageous Steps- Stand up for yourself and your own beliefs, even if it means creating conflict or going against the status quo.
